SDNY COURTHOUSE, July 16 รข€“ A man from El Salvador in ICE detention filed a habeas corpus petition in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York, where Inner City Press found it.

The petition says he has a prior conviction for Sexual Abuse in the First Decree in 2025. Three days after he was released, he was detained by ICE.  He has sued.

The case was assigned to Judge Jeannette A. Vargas, who ordered that the petitioner not be moved beyond SDNY, EDNY or the District of New Jersey.

The case is C.R. v. Mullin, et al., 1:26-cv-6016 (Vargas)
