Detailed Amid New Book UN
Betrayals and Next SG Elex
By Matthew Russell Lee

Substack NEW YORK,
July 22 â As the UN
moves in 2026 to pick a new
Secretary General, as its last
one Antonio Guterres fails on
Ukraine, Gaza and basic
transparency, a book has been
published. It is "United
Nations Betrayals: From
Election Stolen by Guterres to
Bribes and Banning of the
Press," by Matthew Russell Lee
(who quickly discloses that he
has been ousted and banned
from the UN by Guterres, for
his reporting). Now on July 21,
from Colombia to Inner City
Press: Dear Matthew if
you can please help us with
this issue and also add the
proof which is here
attached. I am one of
the few honest staff in Human
Resources at UNVMC. I am tired
of seeing all the wrong stuff
and manipulation in the
recruitment process done by
Chief HR Mar Brusola (sitting
now in a higher position
promoted by Yang for all the
favoritism she did, especially
to him). We are a section that
should follow the UN values
like fairness, transparency
and integrity. But this is not
happening.
Apart from all the promotions
that Mar did for her friends,
the biggest problem is the
recruitment of Yang Wang
(incompetent and useless) for
the CMS position. Everyone who
should respect the UN rules
and lead by example knows that
the process was manipulated,
so why no one is doing
anything? Mr. Yang said in his
Personal History Profile that
he spoke Spanish fluently, but
he does not know even one
word. Also, he got the highest
score on the Spanish question,
even surpassing native
speakers, even though he does
not speak Spanish. I attach
the proof from the HR file
where you can see that Yang
who has never passed a test,
did pass the CMS test but the
funny thing is that in the
spanish question (Q3) Yang got
the highest score (16.5) among
the 23 candidates in a
language he does not
know.
He should have
gotten 0 in that question and
Mar knows that he does not
speak spanish so as Chief HR
why she did not report the
wrong doing? oh yes....because
she got as a reward, Yang P5
post!!!
Despite this, the new SRSG and
OIOS do not want to do
anything about it. They prefer
to have a CMS who is involved
in fraud as he is earning a D1
salary, stealing to the
organization. I feel I need to
speak out because this is
unfair and not right for the
organization or for the honest
staff working here. We have a
CMS who has no integrity and
is committing fraud every day,
which kind of example he is
for us? Why no actions is
taken to fire him for
fraud?
The UN must look into these
issues properly or maybe we
should write to Trump so
something will happen.
Manipulation, favoritism and
fraud in UNVMC must stop. We
need transparency and honesty
in the process. Justice needs
to be done. The SRSG needs to
take action otherwise he is
part of it, A noted
by New York Magazine on Lee's
Maximum Maxwell book,
at times here he uses the
character Kurt Wheelock, who
first appeared in his
Predatory Bender.
The book
begins with Guterres beating
out female candidates for the
UNSG post, after a murky year
being paid by Lisbon-based
Gulbenkian Foundation. The
book digs into the bid by the
China Energy Fund Committee,
convicted of UN bribery, for
Gulbenkian's oil company.
Readers can draw their own
conclusion, including on the
need for SG campaign finance
disclosure in 2026. Part of
the book in italics delves
into the UN Correspondents
Association and its efforts to
throw Lee out. They appear
again in the afterword /
novella, "Whacking Qaddafi,"
which was first mentioned in
the New Yorker magazine's Talk of
the Town piece about
Lee. It addresses more
countries: from India to
Pakistan, Guinea to Guinea
Bissau. The main text addresses UN failures in Sri Lanka - including the UNCA connection - Cameroon, Western Sahara, Syria, North Korea, Sudan, Gaza and elsewhere. UN Betrayals indeed - this should be the first of a series.
