SDNY COURTHOUSE, July 30 â Sean Combs is
incarcerated, now to January 24, 2028. He has been sued
for alleged misuse of the trademark on "Act Bad." On July
30 Combs' lawyer faced off with the plaintiff, before U.S.
District Court for the Southern District of New York
Magistrate Judge Gary Stein. Inner City Press live
tweeted:
Combs' lawyer: Both the defendant and this
plaintiff are incarcerated. Mr. Combs' business operations
are essentially suspended. But we can work on discovery.
Magistrate Judge Gary Stein: This is just
the initial requests for production.
Judge: So, September. And if you ask
for more time, you'd have to show good cause. There will
be depositions, I assume, at some point. Combs'
lawyer: He seems to think there is a big pot of gold here.
There is not.
Judge: Perhaps Mr. Combs can make a
settlement offer that may pique Mr. Kenyatta's
interest. Combs' lawyer: If he is not able to
comprehend perhaps he can seek out advice to understand
the stakes here
Judge: Mr. Kenyatta, to use a legal
term, he is saying the amount of money available here is
bupkis. [Kenyatta laughs]
