COURTHOUSE,
July 28 รข A defendant charged
as a felon in possession of a
gun was the subject of a bail
fight, which he lost, on July
28 in the U.S. District Court
for the Southern District of
New York Magistrates Court.
Inner City Press was the only
media there, and live tweeted:
defendant is
charged as felon in possession
of a firearm, AUSA says he
"stole" where he is living and
"is selling SKYRIZI, it's
incredibly expensive... He
should be detained." Judge: How about
home detention? AUSA: He's about
to be evicted. He previously
passed a gun to a minor. Federal Defender:
We request $50,000 bond signed
by two people. Sure there's a
lengthy criminal history but
this gun charge is non-violent Judge: In
this case, I find no condition
that I could impose to protect
the community and ensure
return to court. He's young
but has a long criminal
history, escalating. He has
orders of protection, anger
issues and lack of stable
housing. Detained. The case is USA v. Nieves, 1:26-mj-3038 (Parker)
