Man From Burkina Faso Detained By ICE Cites Sexual Orientation in Habeas Corpus Petition by Matthew Russell Lee, Patreon Book Substack SDNY COURTHOUSE, July 17 – A man from Burkina Faso who was detained by ICE filed a habeas corpus petition in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York, where Inner City Press found it.    The petition says "he fled to the US to seek asylum because he is a gay man and Burkina Faso criminalizes homosexuality."  Part 1 Judge Ronnie Abrams issued a stay of removal.
