SDNY COURTHOUSE, July 28 รข€“A defendant charged with selling kilo-weight quantities of heroin mixed with fentanyl was the subject of a bail fight on July 28 in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York Magistrates Court. Inner City Press was the only media there, and live tweeted:

AUSA: He has ties to the Dominican Republic. He says he was a home health aide, but says he doesn't know if he can continue after the arrest. We don't think he'd be eligible for safety-valve relief, so ten year mandatory minimum.

Federal Defender: He has been in the community for the past 36 years. And the Government is offering release for the co-defendant. AUSA: This defendant was the supervisor, so he's differently situated.  Judge: I'm going to release him on $75,000 unsecured bond

Judge: Two co-signers, GPS monitor. No contact with co-defendant outside the presence of counsel. Detained until the co-signers sign

The case is USA v. Mena, et al., 1:26-mj-3014 (Parker)
