COURTHOUSE,
Feb 20 รขA woman was detained
by ICE in 26 Federal Plaza on
February 19. She filed a
habeas corpus petition in the
US District Court for the
Southern District of New York
on February 20, where Inner
City Press found it. The case
was assigned to Judge Arun
Sumramanian, who directed the
US Attorney's Office to
respond by 6 pm if there is
any reason based on the
Court's prior decisions that
the petitioner should not be
released." But when
the US Attorney's Office wrote
it, it was to say that venue
is improper, that the
petitioner was "booked out of
26 Federal Plaza at 12:25 pm
on Feburary 19, where was she
was taken to Newark Liberty
Airport and flown to
Louisiana" - the Richwood
Correctional Center in Monroe,
Louisiania. Flying out the
same day avoids SDNY venue. Or
will it? Inner City
Press remains on the case(s). This case is Fernandez
Tardillo v. Genalo, et al.,
1:26-cv-1439 (Subramanian)
