Commish Volker Turk
Travels Trying to Raise
Funds as Exposed as
Corrupt like Guterres
by
Matthew Russell Lee, Patreon Book
Substack UN GATE,
March 25 â How corrupt
and decrepit has the UN system
become under Antonio Guterres,
in this case due to Guterres?
Today's example is again from
the Office of the High
Commission for Human Rights,
to which Guterres appointed
his unqualified crony Volker
Turk more than two years ago.
From OHCHR
staff - and sent for comment
to Guterres dozens at UN, and
separately to the US Mission,
no answer (or action) - "Dear
Matthew Russell Lee, Volker
Turk heads to US looking for
congressional funds just as
Turkâs OHCHR was one of the UN
agencies examined in the report
titled âwaste, fraud and
abuseâ. Bad timing or
shortsightedness? The US Congress
will have the opportunity to
question Volker Turk about the
lack of transparency in OHCHR,
about the waste of funds
(something Turk is a master),
about the delays in execution
due to heavy bureaucracy and
incompetent staff headed by
corrupt Kim Taylor. US
Congress (and media) can ask
Volker Turk about the misuse
of earmark funds, about
favoring his cronies, about
his appeasement with China,
about reprisals to
whistleblowers and more
importantly about his plans
when he leaves the UN at the
end of his term in September
2026. Volker Turk must
go. The UN needs a new High
Commissioner for Human Rights.
Member states must stop
corruption in the UN." As with
Guterres at UNHQ - Inner City
Press and FUNCA have sent a
questionnaire on transparency
and accountability to the five
(so far) candidates for UNSG,
watch this site. Inner City Press
re-applied to re-enter the UN
on June 19, 2025 - no answer
at all from Melissa Fleming,
Tel Mekel, Stephane Dujarric
for six months, then a denial
with no reason at all given.
Today's UN is corrupt.
