COURTHOUSE,
March 25 รข Alan Sloan is
detained awaiting trial in
2027 for selling drugs
resulting in the death of
Nicholas Benjamin Hirsch on
July 15, 2025. On March
25 his lawyer argued to uphold
a Magistrate Judge's order
releasing him on bail. Inner
City Press was
there. U.S.
District Court for the
Southern District of New York
Judge Denise L. Cote heard by
phone from the decedent's
brother, who said their
parents live a block from the
defendant and do not want him
released. The
Federal Defender pointed at
the courtroom gallery where,
besides Inner City Press, a
woman was present. She is the
mother of the defendant's
girlfriend, he said.
Judge Cote said the crime is
too serious, Sloan must remain
detained. She set trial for
February 8, 2027. Later in
the elevator on the way down
Sloan's girlfriend's mother
told Inner City Press, over
the objection or caution of
the Federal Defender, that she
came because parents have to
take responsibility. She added
that Alan Sloan lost his
mother. "Report
that," she said. Consider it
done. The case is USA v. Sloan, 1:26-cr-82 (Cote)
