COURTHOUSE,
March 19 รข Two men have
been indicted for the armed
carjacking of a BWM in Harlem
on June 14, 2024. They were
apprehended when the "Find My
iPhone" app located the car. On
July 3 the second defendant
was arraigned before U.S.
District Court for the
Southern District of New York
Magistrate Judge Katharine H.
Parker in the SDNY Mag court,
which Inner City Press closely
covers. The two
were next set to appear before
the assigned District Judge
Gregory H. Woods on July 24,
2024 at 1 pm. Jump cut nearly a
full year to July 14, 2025
when the Federal Defenders
wrote in asking for
co-defendant Crespo 84 months
and a day on July 28. On July 22
counsel for co-defendant
Rivera asking for 147 months. On July 29, the
US Attorney's Office wrote in
urging 162 months. Sentencing
was set for August 5. On August 5
Rivera was sentenced to 158
months. On January 30 on
Sosa the US asked for below
the 70 month guideline. When the
sentencing was held on March
19, he got 42 months. The case is USA v. Rivera, et al., 1:24-cr-412 (Woods / Parker)
