SDNY COURTHOUSE, Oct 20 – Three defendants charged with roles in the murder in aid of racketeering of Jonathan Rodriguez seven years ago in East Harlem were presented in U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York Magistrates Court on October 20. Inner City Press was there, and live tweeted. From the thread:

Clerk: Time of arrest? AUSA: One at 4 pm yesterday, the other two this morning at 6 am and 6: 20 am. [Did news of yesterday's arrest not reach the two arrested today? Three officers in plain clothes in back of the courtroom gallery]

The second defendant is looking back at his supporters here in the gallery, shaking his head. Then indicating, I'll be OK. We're just waiting for Magistrate Judge Parker.

All rise! Judge Katharine H. Parker: Please be seated. You have been indicted by a grand jury in this District. Has the government given notice to family of the victim? AUSA: No. In the past, yes. But not since the arrests.

AUSA: A fourth defendant is being transported here. Judge Furman is looking at an October 28 arraignment. Judge: We are adjourned.

Third defendant: Defense: We are consenting to detention without prejudice.

AUSA: We are awaiting a fourth defendant.  Judge Furman October 27 or 28

The case is USA v. Carwell, et al., 1:25-cr-399 (Furman / Parker)
