SDNY COURTHOUSE, Oct 14 รข€“ A woman charged with using AI to graft onto pornographic images the face of a victim she then demanded $1.215 billion in hush money from came on December 15 before U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York Judge Margaret G. Garnett, asking for more time out of her Park Avenue apartment while on pre-trial release. Inner City Press was there.

The AUSA said she is a risk of flight, having previously tried to fly to China,  but could be allowed to go a park for an hour a day.

Defense counsel Arthur Aidala said she lives on Park Avenue between 36 and 37 Street and could go to Bryant Park.

Judge Garnett said OK, one extra hour a day.   The complaint describes the defendant hiding evidence among sanitary napkins her apartment, and having cameras to take the images that she then allegedly doctored.

On July 16, 2026, Judge Garnett granted the request to delay the trial, from September 3 to November 16.

On September 14, Judge Garnett granted the US Attorney's Office an extension until October 2 to file its opposition to severance, which the Office said was "in light of continued efforts to reach a disposition in this case."

On October 14, the guilty plea: "Minute Entry for proceedings held before Judge Margaret M. Garnett: Change of Plea Hearing as to Changli Luo held on 10/13/2026. Defendant enters a guilty plea as to Count One of the Indictment. Defense to file its sentencing submissions two weeks prior to sentencing by 2/12/2027. Government to file its sentencing submission one week prior to sentencing by 2/19/2027. Sentencing scheduled for February 26, 2027, at 1:00 p.m."

The victim - photo here in Milwaukee Business Journal - was Milwaukee Bucks co-owner and Fortress Investment Group co-founder Wes Edens. Can you say, Greek Freak?

The case is USA v. Luo, 1:25-cr-412 (Garnett)
