Saudi Jailed for Bugging OpenAI Seeks Bail Relying on Wife Whose ChatGPT Account Reportedly Prompted to Build Bug

FEDERAL COURT, Oct 16 –  The Saudi national detained on charges of planting a recording device in a conference room at OpenAI, Abdulrahman Alfozan, is asking to be released on bail.

In doing do, his argument relies heavily on his wife: her immigration status and her medical conditions. Documents on these have been filed with the court, including a letter from his wife Lujain Assaf Alassaf.    Letter on Patreon here.

But it was his wife's ChatGPT account which prompted:

Build “a continuous audio recorder.” Add “live listening” and “downloading/deleting recordings.” Encrypt the SD card. Make the USB output “power-only.” Develop “a second unit and speech-triggered recording,” then “a third unit.” Then, “apply final protection and silence boot output.”

In most federal Magistrates courts bail hearing, reliance for a bail package on such a person would be immediately reject, and doom the bail application.   So what will happen here?
