A man charged with strangling
a medical resident at the
Veterans Administration Eye
Clinic in Manhattan on August
6 was released on bond in the
U.S. District Court for the
Southern District of New York
Magistrates Court, which Inner
City Press closely
covers. On October
23 he was indicted for
Assaulting a Person Assisting
an Employee of the US in the
Performance of Official
Duties. The
original Complaint has photos
of him walking in, in a black
sweatshirt with "1977" written
in white on the front, then
fleeing two minutes after the
assault. The case
was wheeled out to Judge
Loretta A. Preska. A November
2 tele-conference with a
Magistrate Judge now may or
may not take place. The case is USA v. Simmons, 1:26-cr-497 (Preska)
