SDNY COURTHOUSE, Sept 17 รข€“ A defendant subject to a sealed drug charge in 2025 in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York appeared in the SDNY Magistrates Court on September 17, 2026. Inner City Press was there, the only media in the SDNY Mag Court.

He had a retained (paid) lawyer, and got an agreed upon bail package, to not work in a certain smoke shop.

He was told to return to the courthouse on September 18 at 10 am to have a GPS ankle monitor installed.

His lawyer said his client had flown in from Dubai that morning - could his GPS appointment be pushed back an hour to 11 am, to allow him to sleep?

No objection, the AUSA said.   You could have worked this out before I came out, the Magistrate Judge pointed out, then approved it.

The case is USA v. Ali, 1:25-mj-362 (Wang)
