COURTHOUSE,
April 10 รข A man stopped in a
car in Washington Heights in
January 2025 with a backpack
of narcotics said to come from
Philadelphia is up for
sentencing in the U.S.
District Court for the
Southern District of New York
on April 14. He pled
guilty to a guideline of 70 to
87 months. His sentencing memo
acknowledges that, but notes
that he has already been
incarcerated for 15 months and
is a devout Christian with no
criminal record who faces
removal to the Dominican
Republic. He
is asking for
time served.
Inner City
Press is
covering the
case. But
as of midnight
on April
10-11, the US
Attorney's
Office had not
docketed any
submission for
the sentencing
scheduled for
April 14. Looking
back in the
docket, the
transcript of
another
co-defendant
on February 5
is listed as
sealed. The overall case is USA v. Castro-Corona, 1:25-cr-323 (McMahon)
