For Romance Scams of Elderly Gina Guy Got Loosening Now Critiques GPS Warrant April 17

SDNY COURTHOUSE, April 13 รข€“ Gina Guy is charged with wire fraud and money laundering as part of romance scams of the elderly. On June 25 she was presented before U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York Magistrate Judge Robyn F. Tarnofsky. Inner City Press was there, the only media in the SDNY Mag Court.

Before Guy was brought out by the U.S. Marshals, a Federal Defender on her behalf discussed a bail package with two prosecutors. Guy indicated that she will be retaining her own counsel; FD was only for presentment.

When she was brought out, she was quickly released on her own signature on a $250,000 bond, with one financially-responsible co-signer due in a week. The prosecutors asked for no contact with witnesses or victims but were told only if they gave the names. They did not.

On January 22, 2025 Gina Guy and Rosanna Lisa Stanley were indicted on four counts; the case was wheeled out to District Judge John G. Koeltl.

On February 5 Inner City Press went to the arraignments. There was only one: Gina Guy was present and pled not guilty. Stanley is in a hospital; a letter is due on February 14. The next conference is June 25 at 2:30 pm, to allow Guy's counsel to fly in and out the same day.

On February 14 the two defendants filed a motion for a bill of particulars: the names of "allegedly elderly victims" and the representations made.

On May 28 the US Attorney's Office wrote in to oppose loosening Guy's conditions, arguing that she sought to contact one of her victims after her arrest.

On May 30, Guy's lawyer wrote in again, noting that on May 19, 2025 Ms. Guy began working as a secretary at a commercial roofing contractor in Lyndhurst, NJ.

Docketed on June 2, Judge Koeltl approved the loosening of conditions: "ORDER as to Gina Guy: the defendant's application is granted. The condition of home detention for pretrial release is changed to a condition of a curfew from 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. enforced by location monitoring as directed by Pretrial Services. SO ORDERED."

On June 10 the US wrote in asking for a Curcio hearing on co-defendant Stanley, stating that her lawyer met with a victim and "entered into a romantic relationship."

On June 25, she was appointed Curcio counsel: "The Court, in a proceeding, today, appointed Robert Soloway, Esq., as counsel for the defendant, Rosanna Lisa Stanley, for purposes pursuant to United States v. Curcio."

On July 31 the Curcio hearing was pushed from August 5 to September 9, for redacted medical reasons.

On August 22 Judge Koeltl endorsed her request to appear remotely on September 9 (and September 26) - but did not say if that means, as it should, a listen-only call-in line for the public as well.

In the run up to an April 17, 2026 oral argument, Guy argued among other things that while using GPS "the Government cites to that Ms. Guy's cellphone "was located the NYC home of Victim-4, a male individual... that GINA GUY has defrauded out of over $710,000" - then "Ms. Guy's residence would have been in the vicinity of V4's residence."

The case is now USA v. Guy, et al., 1:25-cr-29 (Koeltl)
