SDNY COURTHOUSE, June 17 รข€“A man from Honduras who entered the US in 2017 via the Texas - Mexico border has been detained by ICE at 26 Federal Plaza.

He filed a habeas corpus petition in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York, where Inner City Press found it.

The petition says he was "fleeing persecution in his home country of Honduras," and that while he has been arrested in the US, all charged were dropped.

The case has been assigned to Judge Jennifer L. Rochon, who has set a July 6 date to hear it after briefing.

On June 23 the US Attorney's Office wrote in that the petitioner was already in New Jersey in Delaney Hall when the petition was filed. Later in the day, a proposed stipulation to transfer the case to NJ, on consent, was filed.

The case is Lopez Perez v. Genalo, et al., 1:26-cv-5107 (Rochon)
