COURTHOUSE,
June 15 รข Back on June 5 DOJ
announced the nsealing of an
Indictment charging 10
defendants with participating
in a years-long racketeering
conspiracy in the Sotomayor
Houses in the South
Bronx. On June 15
Inner City Press was in the
U.S. District Court for the
Southern District of New York
Magistrates Court for the
presentment of one of the
defendants. This one was
routine - despite the presence
of family members in the
courtroom gallery, the
defendant consented to
detention (without prejudice
to a future application). The next date is
a conference before the
assigned District Judge
Richard M. Berman. One of the
defendants was ordered free on
bail - but the US Attorney's
Office appealed to Judge
Berman, who had stayed it
pending his review. The overall
case is USA v. Morris, et al.,
1:26-cr-207 (Berman / Cave)
