COURTHOUSE,
June 16 â Luigi Mangione was
presented in Federal court on
four charges, one of them
death penalty eligible, for
the killing of UnitedHealth
CEO Brian Thompson. Inner City
Press was there, covering the
case toward a book. On December 3,
2025 Inner City Press
requested some unsealing from
NYS Justice Gregory Carro -
and on the morning of December
4, a sidebar then this
confirmation, from NYS Courts
public information: "Judge
made me aware thereâs a plan
formulating for certain
approved evidence to be placed
in a dropbox on the district
attorney's office's channels.
Please stay tuned." We're
trying - but the June 3
hearing was in
camera, no press or
public. Next was June 16. Note: Justice
Carro came out and said that
the defendant had been present
for the virtual conference. More on X for

Press waited - but Mangione
was not produced; they'll try
against June 17. Justice Carro
referred to things he had
received by email. Inner City
Press went to the Clerk's
Office on the 10th floor and
asked for all recent filings.
The most recent were from
April 1, one page orders.
These were kept in a white
cardboard box. More on X for

After some push
back, Inner City Press
published a book Luigi
Mangione Lone Wolf here,
now Amazon here In the NYS
case, on December 2, Altoona
PD officer Joseph Dewiler
explained separating Mangione
from his backpack, later
searched - then at the end,
Justice Carro ruled to seal
all exhibits, without giving
any opportunity to be heard. More on X for

here and Substack here Late on December
2 Inner City Press emailed,
then on December 3 faxed and
hand-delivered, a letter
asking to be heard and for
unsealing, here.
After
handing in the letter and
getting it stamped at 10 am,
Inner City Press stayed in and
covered Justice Carro's
courtroom to 1 pm, then from
2:30 to past 5 pm. Then: Justice Carro
said, "Mr. Lee? Come up to the
rail." I did. He said, I've
read your letter. I intend
tomorrow to decide what part
of what is being presented
came be made public to the
Press. I asked:
Then we can react? He: not by
speaking up in court. I will
not be taking questions. I
have read your letter. But there may
have to be another letter. You
can write again, he said. We
may. But for now, this good
news: "Judge made me aware
thereâs a plan formulating for
certain approved evidence to
be placed in a dropbox on the
district attorney's office's
channels. Please stay tuned."
We will. On unsealing bid, more / extra on X for Subscribers here and Substack here
