Man From Guyana Convicted of Forgery in 2017 Is Detained By ICE So Files Habeas

SDNY COURTHOUSE, June 25 รข€“ A man from Guyana in ICE detention in the Orange County Jail since November filed a habeas corpus petition in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York, where Inner City Press found it. 

  The petition says he "was convicted of second-degree forgery" - in 2017. He was detained when re-entering the US at JFK Airport on November 14, 2025, but won cancellation of removal on January 20. He remains detained.

 The case was assigned on June 25 to Judge Jesse M. Furman.

The case is Singh v. Blanche, et al., 1:26-cv-5370 (Furman)
