Inner City Press was there, covering the case toward a book. On April 1 DOJ announced it would seek the death penalty against Mangione. The jury questionnaire deadlines were moved up, ending June 5 in deference to Justice Carro's June 8 trial date, and move the Federal trial from October 13 to October 26 or November 2. And then, later on April 1, Justice Carro changed his trial date from June 8 to September 8, possibly requiring another SDNY proceeding and change. What explains Justice Carro's timing? On May 18, Mangione's counsel Karen Friedman Agnifilo requested and got an SDNY order to BOP to give Mangione a suit and shoes (no laces) for his May 18 appearance before NYS Justice Carro, "decision on suppression motion."
