Man Who Flew in Cocaine from Puerto Rico to The Bronx Plead Now Co-D OKed for Florida Home Sale Trip

SDNY COURTHOUSE, May 11 –  A man who was arrested trying to pick up a package of drugs mailed from Puerto Rico came to plead guilty on February 24 before U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York Judge Dale E. Ho. Inner City Press was there.   

The Complaint describes a UPS location in The Bronx, and defendant Mena as saying the package contained clothes, for his sick mother, and a safe "which he needed immediately." He said he was going to re-sell the safe.  

He consented to a search of the safe, which contained stamped bricks of campaign.   Judge Ho read out the agreed sentencing guideline: 46 to 57 months. Sentencing is set for June 5 at 10:30 am. 

On May 11, Judge Ho granted co-defendant Gonzalez' request to travel to Florida from May 25 to May 29 to dispose of a Florida home.

The overall case is USA v. Auringer, 1:25-cr-156 (Ho)
