COURTHOUSE,
May 8 -- This week DOJ
announced charges against
MICHAEL GANN alleging that he
manufactured at least seven
improvised explosive devices
using precursor chemicals
ordered on the internet,
stored at least five IEDs and
shotgun shells on adjoining
rooftops of residential
apartment buildings in the
SoHo neighborhood of
Manhattan, and threw at least
one IED onto the subway tracks
of the Williamsburg Bridge. On
July 25 Gann was arraigned
before U.S. District Court for
the Southern District of New
York Magistrate Judge Ona T.
Wang. Inner City Press was
there, the only media in the
SDNY Mag court.
Sitting beside his Federal
Defender, Gann cupped his ears
and hopped up and down. After a not
guilty plea, he consented to
detention. He was set to see
the assigned District Judge
Dale E. Ho on August 13. And docketed on
January 20, 2026, he pleaded
guilty. Detention continued. On April 24
defense counsel wrote in
asking for time served (11
months, according to the
letter), referring to
firecrackers and no one
getting hurt. On May 1 the US
Attorney's Office wrote in
asking for 37 months, saying
among other things he was not
accepting responsibility. On May 8 Inner
City Press was in the
courtroom and live tweeted.

Before Gann talked back, Judge
Ho sentenced him to 29 months.

The designation is still
undecided. Watch this site. The case
is USA v. Gann, 1:25-cr-331
