COURTHOUSE,
July 10 â With former NYC
Mayor Eric Adams launching a
crypto token and exchanging
profanities in an airport, on
January 13 the US Attorney's
Office for the Southern
District of New York announced
the "unsealing of an
Indictment charging ANTHONY
HERBERTâthe former Citywide
Public Housing Liaison at the
New York City Mayorâs
Officeâwith committing
bribery, kickback, and fraud
offenses. HERBERT was
arrested this morning and will
be presented today before U.S.
Magistrate Judge Stewart D.
Aaron." Inner City
Press went to the presentment
and live tweeted: All rise! AUSA:
Mr Herbert was arrested at
7:45 am Judge Aaron: You
have retained counsel. You are
charged with abusing your
authority in Mayor's Office,
taking bribes. Defense: Not
guilty. AUSA: We
have agreed to release on
$50,000 bond with two
co-signers in a week's time.
No contact with Security and
Funeral Home Director. Judge:
I adopt the conditions as my
own. On February 6
Herbert and his lawyer and a
supporter appeared in the
otherwise empty courtroom of
Judge Caproni. She said she'd
like to try the case this
year. On on May 18 she
set a date: October 26. Inner
City Press was there and live
tweeted; Herbert's lawyer
asked for permission for
Herbert to travel to an
African American cowboy event
in South Carolina on Memorial
Day. Judge Caproni
after remarking she was
unaware of cowboys in South
Carolina said to tell
Pre-Trial Service where
Herbert will stay there. Maybe the R.V.
was a tell. This same lawyer
on July 7 wrote in to say "Mr.
Herbert paid the agreed fee
from his person resources.
Those funds have since been
exhausted and Mr. Herbert has
no remaining assets.Although I
am note a member of the CJA
Panel, I respectfully request
that the Court appoint me as
CJA counsel." On July 10, a
hearing was set. Endorsed letter
