charged with the murder of
Milton Grant around 175
Dyckman Street in Upper
Manhattan on June 21,
2021. Now in February
2026 he is on trial, with a
second trial set for March. On June 20,
2023 Ramon Rodriguez was
presented in U.S. District
Court for the Southern
District of New York
Magistrates Court. Inner City
Press was in Mag Court, the
only media there. The
indictment cited another
"Victim-1." Rodriguez was
detained on consent. Jump cut to July
30, 2024: Rodriguez and two
co-defendants were brought
into the courtroom of Judge
Jennifer H. Rearden and seated
in the jury box, occupied
until minutes before by jurors
in her daycare fraud trial. Judge
Rearden noted that it has been
a year. The prosecutors said
plea discussion have progress
with two of the defendants; he
noted that two have been
charged before Judge Lewis J.
Liman with witness tampering,
in USA v. Rodriguez, et
al., 1:24-cr-417 (Liman) On July 14 in
that case, co-defendant
Hernandez' counsel wrote in
that he is already serving
more than a life sentence, and
to make the one in this case
below 57 months. It is set for
July 28. The case on trial
in February is now USA v.
Rivera, et al., 1:23-cr-203
(Rakoff) On February 10,
2026, a cooperating witness
Mr. Diaz was on the stand,
describing preparations for
the robbery, with masks and
two cars, Acura and Honda. On February 12, a
MDC officer testified about
sharpened metal weapons found
in the cell - the cross
brought up that they could
have been hidden there a long
time, the searcher disagreed
on re-direct - and then a
doctor from the OCME, Terra
Cederroth. On February 12
Juror 10 was replaced by
Alternate 1. On February 17,
Judge Rakoff denied a defense
motion, then inquired into
whether the defense complied
with Rule 16(b)(1)(c)(1). On February 18,
the closings. The AUSA quoted
the defendant about his
favorite gun (with a
silencer). The defense quoted
a cooperating witness about
burglaries being his favorite. On February 20,
Rodriguez was found guilty of
murder in aid of racketeering,
attempted murder in aid of
racketeering (in
connection
with the June
21, 2021,
murder of
Milton Grant),
firearms
offenses, and racketeering
conspiracy. Sentencing
was set for June 30. On March 20 his
lawyer submitted a motion for
a new trial, arguing that it
had not been proved beyond a
reasonable doubt that the
murder of Grant was "to
maintain or increase his
position in the enterprise." On May 11, Judge
Rakoff denied the motion.
