Jay-Z Case Against Tony Buzbee Filed in Alabama Arrives in SDNY Related Case Cited

SDNY COURTHOUSE, April 6 รข€“ In late 2024 Houston-based lawsuit Tony Buzbee was involved in a number of sexual abuse civil lawsuit in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York, where Inner City Press covered them.

It emerged that Buzbee was not a member of the SDNY bar. Sean Combs was convicted of some but not all charges, and sentenced to 50 months.

Now a case that Sean Carter a/k/a Jay-Z filed against Buzbee in Federal court in Alabama is being transferred to SDNY, pursuant to a March 31, order, on Patreon here.

Inner City Press said it would be on the lookout for this case in SDNY - and was.

On Friday, April 3 the Sean Carter vs Buzee case arrived in SDNY and was assigned as luck would have it to District Judge Andrew L. Carter; the parties' Alabama lawyers were told how to apply pro hac vice. But one defendant is in SDNY, and Jay-Z, of course, has Alex Spiro of Quinn Emanuel. Will he be appearing?

On April 6, the Reed Smith law firm appeared for Jay-Z and put in a Statement of Relatedness to a Doe case against Sean Combs before Judge Torres, which was dismissed with prejudice. Statement of Relatedness with argument on Patreon here

The SDNY case is now Carter v. Buzbee, et al., 1:26-cv-2775 (Carter)
