COURTHOUSE,
April 7 รข A man
previously convicted of a
felony, charged with having a
gun and shooting himself in
the leg reached a misdemeanor
plea agreement on April 7 in
the U.S. District Court for
the Southern District of New
York. Inner City Press was
there. The
defendant was filmed leaving
an apartment, then a loud bang
was heard in the apartment
buildings stairway. He was
found bleeding from the leg
and arrested. But
six months later, out of
custody and in a wheelchair,
he was in SDNY Magistrates
Court allocuting to having a
gun within 1000 feet of a
school, a misdemeanor, with a
guideline of zero to six
months. Many
felons with a gun get more
much extensive sentences.
Perhaps it was that he shot
himself in the leg. Or that
his felony was "uttering
forged paper" in North
Carolina in 1994.
Sentencing was set for
September 15. The case is USA v. Harris, 1:26-cr-130 (McMahon / Aaron)
