Man from Ecuador Detained by ICE Files 3 AM SDNY Habeas TRO Granted at 11 Hours Later

SDNY COURTHOUSE, Aug 15 รข€“ A man from Ecuador detained by ICE filed a habeas corpus petition at 3 AM on August 15 in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York at 3, where Inner City Press found it. 

  The petition says he entered the US in December 2020" and was detained by ICE on August 14 at 3 AM. In 12 hours, the petition was filed, along with a request for a temporary restraining order against being removed.

At 1:30 pm on Saturday, August 15 Judge Jed S. Rakoff, sitting in Part 1, granted the TRO through August 20. 

The case is Suguenza Chavez v. Genalo, et al., 1:26-cv-6978 (Unassigned)
