Bronx Bus Company Laid Off 187 Workers So They Sue Under WARN Act But Discovery Split by Matthew Russell Lee, Patreon Book Substack SDNY COURTHOUSE, Aug 17 –  A Bronx-based school bus company laid off 187 workers on June 26, 2025, allegedly in violation of the Federal and state WARN acts. Some workers sued, and seek class action status.   On August 17 U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York Magistrate Judge Sarah L. Cave held a conference. Inner City Press covered it.   Defendant GVC LTD of 1932 Commerce Avenue, The Bronx asked that discovery be split in two and that it not have to provide documents about the 187 workers until certain threshold issues, such as the applicability of the WARN Acts and the certification of any class, are resolved.   The plaintiffs' lawyer said all discovery should go forward.   Judge Cave came down in the middle, as she put it, saying that information about two plaintiffs should be provided, including if they accepted employment with another bus company called Pride (the question of whether or not it is affiliated with GVC LTD was raise).    The next session is set for October 20 at 11 am, with a joint letter due on October 15.   The case is Roman v.
