For Pushing Man on Subway Track at Barclays Brooklyn Jury Says Not Guilty to Attempted Murder by Matthew & Russell Lee, Patreon Substack SDNY COURTHOUSE, Aug 24  – A young man from Westchester County has been on trial for attempted murder: pushing a man in front of the subway at Barclays Center station in Brooklyn.    Justice Rhonda Tomlinson on August 24 announced that the jury had a verdict. Inner City Press, out in the hall admiring the view from Jay Street to lower Manhattan, went in.    As Court Security officers convened, the jurors emerged. NOT GUILTY on attempted murder. But guilty attempted assault first degree and criminal possession of a weapon in the fourth degree (a knife).   Defense counsel called it a repugnant verdict - how could he have intended to cause serious injury with the train, but not have intended to kill? Justice Tomlinson set a briefing schedule and the defendant was led back in to detention pending decision or sentencing on October 14. Repugnant indeed.    Down the street in Brooklyn Criminal Court, Courtroom 110, a younger man was brough in handcuffed, charged after an altercation with his cousin in the home of his grandmother.
