COURTHOUSE,
May 15 รข A man charged with
conspiracy to commit
kidnapping and murder in a
foreign country was presented
late on Friday, March 28
before U.S. District Court for
the Southern District of New
York Magistrate Judge Valerie
Figueredo. Inner City Press
was there, the only media in
the SDNY Mag
Court. The defendant was
brought in by US Marshals. He
confirmed to Judge Figueredo
that he did not need any
interpreter. His Federal
Defender said he consented to
detention, before appearing
before the assigned District
Judge, John P. Cronan. That happened on
April 7 and Inner City Press
was there. The indictment
speaks of $1.5 million each
for two targets, well-known
"dissidents from a republic in
County-1." Uh, what country
has a republic in it? Duravic
speaks Serbian. The Federal
Defender was not cleared yet,
but is bringing in a
colleague. Jump cut to May
14, 2026 when the Federal
Defender wrote in asking for a
30 day delay as the parties
are presently engaged in
conversations regarding a
potential pretrial resolution. On May 15 Judge
Cronan agreed and docketed,
"The request is granted. The
motion deadline is adjourned
to June 22, 2026. The status
conference scheduled for June
1, 2026 is adjourned to June
30, 2026, at 2:00 p.m." The case is USA v. Duravic, 1:25-cr-122 (Cronan)
