COURTHOUSE,
May 19 รขA defendant charged
weapons possession as a felon
- a gun with this DNA on it
was found in a fake speaker in
his car - was arraigned on May
19 by U.S. District Court for
the Southern District of New
York Magistrates Judge Robert
W. Lehrburger. Inner City
Press was there, in the back
row. The
AUSA described previous crimes
in The Bronx. The Federal
Defender said she client had
moved from The Bronx to Queens
and that he should be released
on bond. She said he is taking
classes like carpentry, and
takes his children
fishing. The AUSA
said, If you are going to
release him, have it be home
incarceration and not just
home detention (which allows a
defendant to go out to
work). But Judge
Lehrburger ordered the
defendant detained, while
specifically praising the
Federal Defenders
efforts. The case is USA v. Andrews, 1:26-cr-180 (Cote / Lehrburger)
