100 CENTRE ST, May 28 รข€“ Days before NYS Justice Gregory Carro is set to rule on Luigi Mangione's suppression motion, on May 14 he presided over a trial for the murder of Azsia Johnson. Inner City Press was there: On the stand, NYPD phone extraction technician.

ADA: Did you extract the cell phone of the victim, Azsia Johnson?

Witness: Yes. ADA: Nothing further for now. No cross.

Justice Carro: Jurors, you can go for the day. Jurors leave Defense: We object to the photos. Justice Carro: There were 200 autopsy photos, and they only used eight.

ADA: Is the defense going to stipulate? If not, we cannot close until Tuesday.  Defendant stands up to be handcuffed to a belt and is led out.

Justice Carro: They can close on Monday.

But they didn't.

Justice Carro started trial late on Monday - after suppressing the search in the Altoona McDonalds of Luigi Mangione's backpack - and by days end, an NYPD bullet expert was being doggedly cross examined by the defendant's second counsel about bullet tool markings. We asked: will he testify in his own defense?

The answer was yes. On May 21, he was on the stand. The ADA asked if he remembered directing a friend to provide an alibi, on a recorded Rikers Island call.

When he said no, the jury left the courtroom as the long jail call was played. Inner City Press live tweeted it. Ultimately the defendant acknowledged the call in front of the jury.  The defense is extreme emotional disturbance.

On May 28 Inner City Press live tweeted closing arguments then.... Isaac Argro was convicted of Murder in the Second Degree. Afterward his defense lawyers stood in the lobby of 100 Centre Street. They played the cards they had, it seems.
