Combs' lawyer Agnifilo argued for release on bail but was denied, with a hearing on expedited sentencing on July 8. But on July 8 Agnifilo's second letter reaffirmed October 3 for sentencing - with US summary of  offense conduct due on July 11 - but not docketed as of July 29. As explained, the statute’s drafters targeted pimps and traffickers who prostitute vulnerable women by offering them up to other customers, and DOJ policy since the mid-20th century has been focused on such cases (along with situations irrelevant here involving coercion or minors).
