Man From El Salvador Says ICE Told Him He Would Be Removed to Mexico So Files Habeas by Matthew Russell Lee, Patreon Book Substack SDNY COURTHOUSE, Aug 3 – A man from El Salvador who says ICE detained him then told him he will be removed to Mexico filed a habeas corpus petition in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York, where Inner City Press found it.    The petition says he has been in the US for 13 years without incident but that on August 5, he was detained by ICE and was told "ICE now intended to remove to Mexico."   A habeas corpus petition was filed on his behalf in SDNY, and assigned to Judge Jennifer L. Rochon. She ordered that he not be removed from SDNY, EDNY or New Jersey absent further order of the Court. She has asked for an answer. The case is Bautista Ortiz v.
