June 30 รข A defendant charged
as part of a Cargo Theft
Enterprise that stole, among
other things, 23,400 dozen
eggs worth $51,000 (and
whiskey worth $360,000) was
presented in the U.S. District
Court for the Southern
District of New York
Magistrates Court on June 30.
Inner City Press was there,
the only media in the SDNY Mag
Court. The
defendant, in shorts with
tattooed arms, was assigned a
CJA lawyer and was given a
bond package: immediate
release on $100,000 unsecured
bond with two co-signed, GPS
and able to visit his lawyer
in the District of New
Jersey. The whiskey
was supposed to be shipped
from Texas to New Jersey, the
eggs from Pennsylvania to
Utah. There are
six other co-defendant, from
Russia, Ukraine, Armenia and
India, have their case
assigned to District Judge
Andrew Carter, with a
conference set for July 14. The case is USA v. Gulian, et al., 26-cr-240 (Carter / Aaron)
