As Crack is Pled Down to Disorderly Behavior No Harm CVS Thief is Detained in Soccer Jersey

SDNY COURTHOUSE, July 2 รข€“ In 100 Centre Street's main presentment courtroom APAR1 on July 2, a man charged with crack possession in an East Harlem housing project was allowed to plead guilty to disorderly behavior.

His sentence? One session with CASES New Start.

Next up was a defendant charged with possessing a forged instrument. He too was released, on Adjournment Contemplating Dismissal with a next appearance down the street in 1 Centre Street, sometimes called The Dink, to demonstrate his attendance at the Manhattan Justice Opportunity Program. Nice work if you can get it.

Not working, at least on July 2, were what appeared to be tourists in APAR1. FIFA World Cup tickets are expensive, and it was hot outside.

Across the hall is even more run-down APAR2, a more stern judge - who we note again bears a striking resemblance to Senator Mark Warner - listened as defense counsel argued why her client, with a three year old baby, should be released without bail.

She said there was no harm, the CVS he attempted to steal from had recouped the property.

The judge began to rule, in his stern fashion, and the defense lawyer tried to get in another point. This is not a negotiation, she was told.

And the judge imposed $5000 cash bail, noting a string of previous non-appearances including in Queens.

The defendant was led out, in his Number 10 soccer jersey.
