In Sen Menendez Case Superseding Indictment After Uribe Pled Guilty As Sealing Continues

SDNY COURTHOUSE, March 5 – Amid reports of investigation against Sen. Robert Menendez for taking gold bars, Inner City Press' sources on September 21 it to expect on Friday, September 22 an appearance in Federal court in Manhattan by Menendez and his wife Nadine Arslanian. This scoop was true.

Later a superseder was unveiled, including charges of bribes to act for Qatar.

On January 10 Menendez filed a motion to dismiss, arguing "the government shockingly fails to disclose the exculpatory fact that [REDACTED]." Full filing on Patreon here

Late on January 10, docketed on January 11, Inner City Press filed to unseal Menendez' redactions - and documents "in the vault."

On January 17, after the NYT also requested (and cited Inner City Press), Judge Stein ordered the parties - including DOJ - to respond by January 22.

While sealing continues, on March 1 co-defendant Uribe pled guilty: "Minute Entry for proceedings held before Judge Sidney H. Stein:Arraignment as to Jose Uribe (4) Defense attorney makes an application that his client wishes to withdraw his previously entered plea of not guilty and enter a plea of guilty to Counts 1 through 7 in the S(3) superseding Information. Defendant sworn allocution begins. Plea entered by Jose Uribe (4) Guilty as to Count 1sss,2sss,3sss,4sss,5sss,6sss,7ssss., As to Jose Uribe. The Court accepts the guilty plea. Bail continued. ( Sentencing set for 6/14/2024 at 02:30 PM before Judge Sidney H. Stein.)"
