SDNY COURTHOUSE, April 18 – Failing on Ukraine, UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres announced he was sending Martin Griffiths, the fourth Brit in a row atop the UN's humanitarian department, to Russia.
As Inner City Press has noted, Griffiths has refused to make even the minimal public financial disclosure instituted by Guterres' predecessor (and rendered meaningless by Guterres).
In a maskless April 18 session in the UN Press Briefing from which Guterres and his spokespeople Stephane Dujarric and Melissa Fleming banned Inner City Press, Griffiths offered wan praise of Guterres and said that speaking with Putin is "above his pay grade."
Hours later, Griffiths announced that "I regret to say that I tested positive for COVID today. I am following health guidance, cancelled travel, and isolating at home."
While wishing Griffiths well, Inner City Press notes that the UN has announced no follow up or contract tracing. Video of 40 minute briefing here
Its UN Correspondents Association's most recent communication has been to tell people not to take photographs of its members. We'll have more on this.
