FEDERAL COURT, Feb 23/24 -- For weeks - years - the talk had been about Russia invading Ukraine. And now, in the middle of a blowhard UN Security Council meeting which began by the Chinese Ambassador laughing it up with his counterparts from France, the UK and the US (apparently the Genocide Games was just a phrase), it happened.
Six am in Russia is 10 pm in New York and the UNSC meeting had began at 9:30 pm. Midway through, Ambassadors started looking at their cell phones. Reuters published a photo of US Ambassador Linda Thomas-Greenfield's phone, her assuring the Ukraine ambassador that she would raise it, on her second turn.
(Kurt before Antonio Guterres threw him out of the UN had been warned about taking photographs of diplomats from the photo booths above, had been threatened even then with expulsion. Apparently there were two or more sets of rules, in all dimensions).
By 11 pm when Ukraine spoke the UN had been shown once again as a joke. Not only had the meeting not stopped anything - it had sparked it, perhaps. Ukraine's ambassador told Russia's Nebenzia to give up his seat. Fat chance. And then Linda Thomas-Greenfield vowed to table a resolution on the matter - a resolution that Russia was 100% sure to veto.
The League of Nations had gone out of business due to a structural handicap, then for unanimity. Today's UN was obviously crippled, with five countries able to block any criticism or action. And they weren't even trying. A corrupt Secretary General had been allowed to block (or oust) all of his opponents and grab a second five year term in a one-man election, like in North Korea
Guterres went and hobnobbed with Xi during the Genocide Games, and omitted his financial links to SDNY convicted UN bribery CEFC China Energy.
There was more that Kurt could say, but filming and re-uploading this UN videos with voiceover he tried to be restrained. Flipping the laptop screen down at an angle, Guterres looked even more ghoulish than usual. Kurt showed Ambassadors, even the Norway Ambassador who refused to answer his written questions about the $130,000 loan she took from pedophile Jeffrey Epstein, in a more realistic way.
How absurd would things become in coming days, as the Jho Low trial continued in Brooklyn and Jho continued to be sheltered in China, both laughing all the way to the bank? And would Russia effectively be taken out of the international financial system through SWIFT, since the inept (and corrupt) UN couldn't pass sanctions against Putin? #TheWeaselOfWallStreet More here
