SDNY COURTHOUSE, Feb 16 – Leonid Kaplan was sentenced to 94 months and restitution of $2.3 million in 2013 by U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York Judge Richard M. Berman.

On February 16 SDNY Magistrate Judge Sarah L. Cave, acting for Judge Berman, held a supervised release proceeding with Kaplan. Inner City Press covered it.

Kaplan had been seeking permission to travel to Ukraine - for dental work, he said. This request was denied.

Judge Cave said people are being ordered to leave Ukraine, not travel there.

She set another supervision meeting and congratulated Kaplan for paying his restitution, at the rate of more than 14% of his income.

This way it will be over sooner, she said.

The case is US v. Kaplan et al., 11-cr-892 (Berman / Cave)
