SDNY COURT, August 9 – The US Congress' and Executive Branch's dysfunction was on display on August 9, when for example a much discussed crypto-currency provision in the infrastructure bill seemed subject to a bipartisan amendment - which then failed.

Inner City Press, which covers crypto-currency and other financial issues in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York as well as before DC agencies and courts, live tweeted the end-game, here:

Now in US Senator, crypto-currency speech by Sen Toomey, saying he's agreed with Sen Warner among others to clarify that broker-like activities are covered, but not validators, node operators, or software developers. Now Sen Lummis joining in.

Now Sen Ted Cruz says he expects to hear objections to the amendment(s) - that the original draft may remain. Says it would be better to take the whole thing out and study it.

Quotes Bismarck: “Laws are like sausages. It's better not to see them being made.”

Now Alabama Sen Shelby objects - wants to add in a defense provision.

Sen Bernie Sanders says, that's to increase military spending by $50 billion. Now quotes "a report by the UN." This while UN censors Press: Today UN's ban on Inner City Press & letter to Antonio Guterres' Melissa Fleming from law firm Quinn Emanuel was raised to UN Spokesperson Stephabe Dujarric: "No change in status." No answer including by 12 UN Correspondents Association  board members, storyvideo of Q&A.]

Sen Shelby: I object. Sen Toomey: Because there's no agreement on voting on Sen Shelby's amendment, we're not to take up our amendment. So now a reporting requirement imposed on "any person who provides ANY service effectuating transfer of digital assets."

Sen Toomey: We'll be back on this, after we stifle innovation and new apps. It's not good. I yield. [Bismarck lives, in the US Senate]

He's baaack - Sen Portman engages in canned colloquy with Sen Warner, about how Treasury will (might?) interpret their law, since due to dysfunction they can't bring to a vote any amendment to it. Video here...
