Spoke of Sleeping on Roof and Got Four
Month Sentence Now Co-D In on VOSR
By Matthew
Russell Lee, Patreon SDNY COURTHOUSE,
Sept 30 รข Peter Gonzalez had
been in jail since September
4, 2018. On May 18, 2021
U.S. District Court for the
Southern District of New York
Judge Katherine Polk Failla
held a sentencing proceeding.
Inner City Press covered
it. Judge
Failla has had this narcotics
conspiracy case since 2015.
She inquired into sentencing
comparables, and then asked
Gonzalez to speak if he wished
to. He
did. Gonzalez said
he wanted to be transparent.
He acknowledged a previous use
of violence, and said he'd
stopped it. He spoke of
having to sleep on a roof.
Judge Failla took a more than
ten minute break, and then
returned with her sentence:
time served plus four months. She told
Gonzalez to not make her
regret it. Jump cut all the
way to September 30, 2026 when
the lead named defendant was
brought in Violations of
Supervised Release involving
guns. A fill-in CJA consented
to detention and sought a
medical order. The case is USA v. Ortiz, 1:15-cr-608 (Failla)
