FOLEY SQUARE, Oct 27 â The family of
Koran Irvine, shot and killed on the George Washington
Bridge on Tuesday allegedly by ex-NYPD Detective Victor
Romero, on October 22 asserted that there is a cover-up,
including attempts to remove all photos of the defendant
from the Internet. They criticized reports
that only manslaughter would be presented to the grand
jury.
On October 27, this: "Today, the Office
presented charges of Murder in the Second Degree to a
grand jury, which returned a true bill. The presentation
to the grand jury followed an extensive ongoing
investigation since the criminal court arraignment last
Thursday. The next date is November 23 in Part 72 for
Supreme Court arraignment."
Inner City Press asked the family's lawyer,
in an impromptu press conference in Foley Square, if they
would like to see the prosecution Federalized if
possible.
YouTube live question of the question
here.
The response alluded to the scene of the
crime, the bridge, spanning from New York to New Jersey.
They questioned the New York District Attorney seeking an
indictment on manslaughter rather than
murder. T
he family's second lawyer twice invoked NYC
Mayor Zohran Mamdani, saying he opposed NYPD officers
being able to resign and "sweep under the carpet" charges
against him. Romero, they said, was working as armed
security for a limousine service.
Inner City Press remains on the
case(s).
