SDNY Exclusive, Sept 24 – A 37 year-old-man who was a first grade teacher at a school in Queens has been detained on charges of transmitting sexual images of prepubescent children.  Christopher Ward, living at his parents' home in Farmingdale NY, was brought before U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York Magistrate Judge Sarah Cave on September 24. Inner City Press was there, the only media in the SDNY Mag Court. Thread:

Assistant US Attorney: We have his messages describing his attraction to his first grade students. He only left his school, in Queens, once the investigation began. He says he would live in his parents' apartment in Farmingdale- but they're out of town

AUSA: His parents home is right down the street from a daycare. They are away on vacation until Sunday.

Retained defense counsel: He is 37, lives with his parents, has taught for 15 years. He offered to surrender to the Suffolk County DA... He should be released. His brother and sister in law are here in the courtroom.

[They are- the only civilians here other than Inner City Press]

Defense: He left the marital home and returned to live with his parents. His brother has children..  AUSA: He sent some images from another family member's home. He misled his wife.

Judge Cave: I am going to detain him, put it over for a week - I need to hear from his parents, there needs to be a home visit. Adjourned.

Inner City Press will stay on the case.

It is USA v. Ward, 1:25-mj-3048 (Cave)
