Latin Restaurants Sue Ossining for Pretextual Searches and Bias to Promote Gentrification

By Matthew Russell Lee, Patreon Maxwell book

SDNY COURTHOUSE, Dec 27 – El Manabita Sports Restaurant sued the Village of Ossining for discriminating against it as a Central American business catering to the Latin American population of Ossining.

The complaint, filed on December 27 in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York and found in the docket there by Inner City Press, says that Ossining "wants to gentrify" the area.

Specifically, it says the Lieutenant Brendan Donohue raided the business claiming a request from the NYS Liquor Authority which, it says, did not exist.

  Punitive damages are demanded.

The case is Diaz Restaurant Inc. et al. v. The Village of Ossining et al, 22-cv-10920 (Unassigned)
