SDNY COURTHOUSE, July 21 – Lyith Brandon Gill was arrested and detained on July 21 in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York. SDNY Magistrate Judge Barbara Moses held a proceeding late on July 21, and Inner City Press live tweeted it:
Judge Moses told AUSA Balsamello, "You need a haircut."
Gill is complaining about handcuffs. Judge Moses asks the Marshals for the handcuffs to be removed. Gill thanks her.
AUSA Balsamello: The arrest was today at 11 am.
Assigned (or, to be assigned) CJA lawyer says she spoke with Mr. Gill several times by phone, starting around 1 pm.
Defendant Gill says he has made $5000 in the last year - with music.  Judge Moses: No stocks or bonds? Gill: None. Judge Moses: And your phone bill is $30 a month? Gill: Yes, Ma'am.
Judge Moses: If you win the Lotto, let your lawyer know. You are charged only in Counts 18 and 19 - conspiracy to distribute crack and heroin, and knowingly using and carrying firearms, some brandished and discharged.
Gill: Not guilty.
His lawyer says he is "consenting to detention at this time."
Next court date: Sept 8 before Judge Oetken. His lawyer: There's a homicide count in the indictment, and I'm not on the Capital panel.    Judge Moses: That's OK.  We are adjourned.
The overall case is US v. Lawrence, 19-cr-761 (Oetken / Moses)
