SDNY COURTHOUSE, Aug 23 – Tykiek Skyfield, charged with a shooting in The Bronx on July 22, 2023, was presented before U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York Magistrates Judge Sarah Netburn on August 23, 2023. Inner City Press was there, the only media in the SDNY Mag Court.

Skyfield was in the yellow jail uniform of the Essex County Correctional Facility, with dread locks.

The day's Criminal Justice Act lawyer represented him pro bono, saying that Skyfield already has another CJA lawyer in his violation of supervised release case before District Judge Ronnie Abrams. (Inner City Press' research finds he also has a civil case, as plaintiff, before Judge Abrams.

The prosecutors say that

"on or about July 22, 2023, at approximately 9:52 p.m., an individual with long braided hair and facial hair wearing a white T-Shirt with graphics exited the passenger side of a white SUV parked at the intersection of Needham Avenue and East 223rd Street in the Bronx.

"On or about July 22, 2023, at approximately 9:56 p.m., in the vicinity of 1765 Needham Avenue in the Bronx, a residential area, Shooter-1 fired from a handgun two shots, approximately 13 seconds apart, at another individual."

Skyfield was detained on consent, but did not consent to waiving to the thirtieth day, instead request a control date in 15 days. Inner City Press assumes he will be indicted - but will it be assigned to Judge Abrams or another judge?

The case is US v. Skyfield, 23-mj-6130 (Netburn)
