OneCoin Juggernaut in Print and Film With Prosecution still Decidedly Incomplete in SDNY

by Matthew Russell Lee, Patreon Book Substack

SDNY COURTHOUSE, Aug 6 – Some financial crimes have a clear ending point and denouement; some give rised to documentaries and movies.

The OneCoin scam, the crypto without a blockchain, is still not over. But the documentaries, books and even films have begun.

Jennifer McAdam is one of the victims of OneCoin. With Douglas Thompson, she has a book called Devil's Coin coming out this week. Inner City Press was asked to review it; in full disclosure it is the book's credits. But even with the cases not finished - Ruja in the wind or dead, Mark Scott still no in jail, Sebastian Greenwood finally teed up for September 12 and Irina Dilkinska getting a new lawyer - we'll do a capsule review.

Devil's Coin recounts open-endedly that "Ruja had been told  by Frank Schneider, via a leak from Bulgarian, German,  or American prosecutors, that she had been indicted by a  New York grand jury on October 12, 2017." Note that since then, Schneider before an extradition ruling against him went on the lam and hasn't been found. The US prosecutors have said nothing about this.

Abid Wadood Mufti, described as head of telecommunications in Peshawar for the United  Nations for thirteen years, is quoted, "I knew I would never get my money back, but I wanted these  people to be prosecuted. I contacted the United Nations Office  on Drugs and Crime, but they said that was not 'their area.'" Press questions daily to the UN Spokesman of SG Antonio Guterres have yielded nothing.  Not noted: UNODC has been run by Russia.

The OneCoin fraudsters have only been held accountable, if at all, by victims who became active like Jen McAdam. She is to be congratulated.

Of Sebastian Greenwood, Devil's Coin says "He appointed a new lawyer in 2022 and his sentencing control date was scheduled for August 10, 2022. He also can be sentenced to up to ninety years in jail."

But a full year later in August 2023, he has not been sentenced. And his proceedings are empty but for Inner City Press. There is an industry of OneCoin, but it has become deracinated from what is actually happening, and not happening, in the case. Let's hope that any movie sets this right -- as a book in progress on Sam Bankman-Fried, previewed in song(s), aims to do as to FTX...
